The clock on the walldoesn't stop when theinternet does.

Tally runs the time clock, schedule and timesheets on one tablet at the door — through dead Wi-Fi, cold hands and shift change. Hours come out payroll-ready.

01A shift, end to end

Four taps and a photo. That’s the whole thing.

Everything else — breaks, overtime tiers, statutory holidays, the week boundary — happens behind the glass without anyone on the floor thinking about it.

6:58 AM

Punch in

Tap Clock In, enter a six-digit PIN. The camera takes one frame as the last digit lands, and the confirmation screen is readable from two metres away — with a Not me button, in case the PIN was one digit off.

12:04 PM

Break, if you take one

Start Break and End Break, or automatic deduction — set per pay class, not per company. Take three breaks or none; the sheet handles both, and a shift with no break recorded gets flagged rather than silently docked.

8:11 PM

Someone stays late

Three hours past the scheduled end goes to a manager for a decision: worked, partly worked, or not. Overtime classification isn’t a choice — it’s computed from the provincial threshold. Three minutes past the end doesn’t go anywhere at all.

Friday

Export

Hours by pay code, straight into your payroll provider. Re-exporting after a correction sends only the correction — never the period twice.

02The part everyone finds out the hard way

A punch is a write. A schedule is a read.

Most time clocks treat offline as one switch. It isn’t. Refusing a punch locks someone out of their own pay record. Serving a stale roster off a wall tablet leaks the schedule to whoever is standing there.

72 hours

Punching keeps working

Events queue on the tablet, signed on a hardware key, chained so a missing or reordered punch is detectable. The device clock isn’t trusted — a monotonic counter runs alongside it and drift gets flagged on sync, never dropped.

8 hours

Schedules and timesheets expire

Manager views run off an encrypted local cache with a hard expiry. When it lapses the data is wiped from the device, not shown stale. Wages and pay rates are never on the tablet at all.

On reconnect

Two tablets, one employee, no double pay

Overlapping offline punches from different doors resolve to a single shift. The duplicate is kept and marked, never deleted — because the raw log has to explain itself to an employment standards officer, not to us.

3

seconds to undo a punch entered under the wrong PIN

90

day photo retention, configurable, auto-deleted

0

4

03On buddy punching

We won’t tell you it’s solved.

Stopping someone from deliberately punching for a colleague needs face matching, and face matching in Quebec means a biometric database, express consent and a sixty-day filing with the Commission d’accès à l’information. We didn’t build that, and we’re not going to imply we did.

What you get instead: a photo on every punch shown next to that employee’s file photo, so review is a one-second comparison rather than a memory test. Plus automatic flags for the patterns that give it away — two people punching eight seconds apart most days, a punch on an approved leave day, a punch at a yard someone has never worked.
